Today we drove out to the MacDonnell Ranges, first we stopped at Flynn's grave, he was the man who helped start the RFDS, royal flying doctor's service. There was a boulder on top of the memorial, Ethan couldn't help touching it, he loves boulders. Then we went to Simpsons Gap, it was the first time we had seen water out here in the outback. When we went into the toilet there was a little frog on the wall! Uncle Mark gave us walkie talkies to use, so we could talk to him in the cars and each other when we were walking around, they are heaps of fun. Next we went to Standley Chasm, we didn't go in because it was too cloudy and you are supposed to go in when it's sunny to see the chasm properly, so we didn't want to waste money paying, when it wouldn't be very good. Next we went to Ellery Creek Big Hole, it was cool. There was a swimming hole, but it was freezing cold. The rocks were really strange there, the cliffs were all twisted around, we climbed up a section to get a better look. After that we went to the Ochre Pits, this is where the aboriginal men collected colours for painting, it was really beautiful with red, yellow, orange and white sections through the cliff. The sun finally came out so you could really see the colours. Finally, we went to Ormiston Gorge, we did the walk to the lookout and saw someone go in the water, brrrr! Then we walked down to the river bed and climbed over the rocks to get to the swimming hole. It was really beautiful with all the ghostgums and the red rock cliffs. The rocks we climbed over were all colorful.
