It's been a busy few weeks here in TZ, mainly patient avoiding, but there has been some productivity! Last week was highly productive for Andie and Lizzie - with a few rectal examinations in the bag for Lizzie, and some time in the lab looking at malaria slides. I had much less success, and was almost the victim of one of their malaria investigations! Stuck in the house with a thumping headache, the world spinning for about 3 days, and a few confusing moments of hallucination which I can't recall clearly other than my cries for help when I was quite safe in my bed. Negative for malaria though which is good, and it seems to have subsided. Also good.
Our weekend was spent in Tanga! the yacht club is an expat haunt, but has beautiful views of Tanga bay, and some beautiful YATCHES to boot. We were feeling adventurous so went for a swim to a pontoon in the sea and spend some time living the dream and jumping off it in the sunshine. The dream was shattered however, when a bloody huge jellyfish swam out from under the pontoon (if anybody asks it was 10ft long and there were 30 of them). Obviously, we freaked out and refused to get back in the water for fear of Jellyfish death and were rescued by our new Dutch/Tanzanian friend Nina who, cool as a cucumber, brought us a surfboard to get back to land on. We realised how much we overreacted when she jumped off the surfboard, called us wimps and swam back to shore, leaving us paddling like children on this huge surfboard.
Later that day we went to the best restaurant in town, called Exotica, which Andie cannot stop calling Erotica.
On Sunday, a Thomas Durham arrived in town! More on this from Andie!
This week, Lizzie caught whatever I had last week so had a few easy days! Andie and I were with the British doctor Sally for Obstetrics and Gynaecology trying to help deliver babies and examining vaginas!
More later, as we've outstayed our welcome at the pizzeria. It's a hard life.

madeline Oh babe you poor thing, how are you feeling now, I guess much better if you've managed to go swimming in jellyfish infested waters and are managing to keep down pizza. Big twin love coming your way xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
