Spent 6 days on Koh Tao.....lush. Hired a moped and had a quick drive around the island....well, most of the roads are dirt tracks so we only saw a bit, our bunalow looks out over a nice bay but its very shallow and the water gets so hot. We discovered that we have a little friend staying with us in our room....a foot long lizard who sits above our bed, excellent! We did 2 dives one morning, it was cool. The visability was good and we saw some awsome fish....i swam into a wall of sea anenomes which wasnt so clever as i got stung. We were just gearing up ready to do our last dive when a cry of "whale shark" was heard...with that we all piled into the water and spent the best part of an hour at 5metres watching and swimming with a 6-7m whale shark....cool. We hired a quad bike and visited some of the more remote bays on the island. Our favorite was called Ao Leuk which had the most crystal clear blue water i have ever seen and the snorkling was fab, there were so many fish in the shallow water that we could feed them bread and they would go mad for it. We got nipped by them a few time, it didnt hurt though...Layne got nipped on the piel hahaha! We also went snorkling for 2 mmornings in a shallow bay where black tipped reef sharks come to feed, it was cool, they got quite close but were very timid, they were about 1.5metres max.....but i was still a little scared and stayed close to layne as i figured they could eat him first! We played around on the quad bike, Layne did some doughnuts and i drove it around very slowly. We did a day trip around the island, mostly snorkling but we also visited a beautiful island called Nangyuan. We basically spent 5 days sunbathing, snorkling, swimming and generally just lazing around, good way to end the holiday. Had a meal on the last night with our vietnam/cambodia friends claire and david.
