We left Phi Phi and on the ferry had the horror of watching Rambo 4...a very random choice considering it was 9am and there were lots of kids on board....i think it was one of the most violent, grusome films i have seen, it freaked me out, Lauren..dont watch it! We got to Khao Sok national park in the afternoon and we just chilled out ready to do a big hike the next day. We decided to walk to a waterfall that was 7km away and started out through the rainforest on small trail, it was sooooo hot we sweated loads. I saw a cool flying lizard and a massive orb spider and apparently there were lots of monkeys but we didnt see them. Got to a swimming area in the river about 5km in and went for a lovely swim...but discovered that we were being eaten by leeches, nice, we thought it was just in that area so we weren't too bothered. Carried on walking or should I say climbing up and down v steep, small paths until we reached the waterfall, we were the only ones silly enough to make the tough climb so we had a nice picnic and swam. We started walking back and we got hit by a massive tropical rain storm, it was so dark in the rainforest and thats when we started getting attacked by leeches! The came out in the rain and waited on the path and attached themsleves really quickly to our shoes and then climbed up to suck our blood. They were so quick, we had to stop every 2 mins to check our legs and more ofen than not would find the little suckers. I hated it and really freaked out and instead of calmly picking them off my shoes i'd squeal and throw my shoe off into the jungle and beg layne to help me...what a baby. By this time we are jogging throught the forest, we are wet through and scared about the leeches, nice. Got to rest point near the end and took off our shoes, Layne had massive leeches inside that had obviously gorged themselves on his blood and he killed them and the blood spurted all over the floor, it looked like carnage. We got back home and did a full cavity search just to double check for leeches, I dreamed that night that I was being attacked by leeches, nasty. I think thats the quickest 14kms I've ever done, running from the little suckers. Back to the beaches next.
