After leaving the s@#thole that is Delhi we arrived 6 hrs late in Bangkok and immediatly headed to the infamous Khao San road in search of a beer and a burger king whopper for layne. After a month without alcohol we were desperate people and sought out the nearest sports bar to watch rugby and down a few beers. The area is crazy busy with loads of drunk westerners and the streets filled with stalls and people trying to sell you stuff. Even though layne and i were walking hand in hand guys kept coming up to him and saying Phatpong which is the stripclub area. I was kinda intrigued about seeing women fire pingpong balls and darts from their fanjitas but it was expensive so maybe we'll go on our last night before we return to england....! There are also loads of sex tourists...ie sleazy old western men and young thai girls or ladyboys...nice! We went to visit the grand palance which was really elaborate and beautiful and we also went to the biggest poshest shopping mall i have ever seen.....there was a porshe showroom on the 3rd floor! Layne got very drunk with an american guy we 1st met in india, he was embarassingly loud and frightened a finnish couple sat next to us.......the next day was a right off cos ickle layney was hungover.....oh dear! next stop chang mai for some treking!
