Wow, that was the best £50 I've Eva spent!!! Read about pattaya orphanage in the lonely planet so I took a trip to toys'r'us n bought some toys!!!
Was extremely nervous in the taxi on my way there as I didn't know wot to expect!!! I had visions of unhappy, unclean children being shouted at!!! The security guard looked mean initially but let me in wen he saw my bag full of toys!!!
Wen I got out of the car with my bag, all the kids ran up to me with their arms out and obediently stood in a piggeldy line wen asked by their carer!!!
I told them my name and where I was from but the carers English was poor!!! As I handed the balls out, their little faces lit up like it was Christmas day and they hugged them tight as if they would never let go, I started to feel bad as the balls ran out and I noticed that there was more kids than I had colouring books!!! The kids all said 'cop un kah' and ran off with a huge smile!!!
I then got them playing basketball, football, relay races and colouring in!!! It was clear they had previous ball skills as they could all catch and tackle!!! The language barrier was no
Issue as i pointed and instructed, it was easier than organising my little terrors from home!!! When the stronger characters passed to me, I made sure i passed it to the weaker of the group and everyone got involved, no one faught or was selfish, they were good little sharers!!!
They enjoyed looking at themselves in my pictures and thought it was funny to hold up their colouring in, in front of my camera as they were proud of their work!!! One little cutie enjoyed my cuddles and stayed close by my side.
I was extremely pleasantly surprised as I didn't find grubby children, but friendly, grateful, obedient little souls who clearly looked after each other as a big family!!! The children took care not to knock the pile of clean washing off the table as they coloured and concentrated hard to keep within the lines.
I didn't want to leave but was finally asked to as they had to get to bed for school, yes not only are they clean and happy, but they also get an education! Certainly not wot I expected to see from an orphanage in pattaya!!!
The contrast between the so called 'disadvantaged' young people from
Britain and the 'street kids' of Thailand is emmense!!! Britain has certainly lost it's moral fabric!!!
I really could have taken them all home and I will sleep tonite with a smile on my face :0)
