Feeling slightly fragile after the French meal and copious amounts of wine last night but managed to make my way to darling harbour to visit the aquarium!
After getting up close and personal with jaws, seeing my first platypus (with have poisonous claws) checking out a cute, colourful sea dragon, I discovered that crabs have teeth in their stomach! I also managed to see some fairy penguins after the pinot grigio caused me to miss them the other night!
Sydney has the largest natural harbour in the world! The first European settlement was in jan 1788 when the first fleet sailed into botany bay under the command of captain Arthur Phillip! The indigenous Australians made for an estimated 500 tribes, a population of up to one million and spoke some 250 languages!
I then did the Sydney tower eye 4d experience in the ugly Betty style glasses! The opera house is made from Swedish tiles that self clean in the rain! Sydneys harbour has many different islands including cockatoo which once held a prison and goat island which has lately been home to rock concerts by greenday and foo fighters! The Hyde park in Sydney is only a 6th of the size of that in London!
My $43 travel multi pass allows unlimited access onto buses, ferries and trains for a week and I'm certainly getting my use out of it!
Got chatting to a teacher who's doing her masters on the ferry and scored a lift home to save me walking up the monster hill in the rain, people are sooooo nice!!!
