Kya Travels
We woke up at about 7:30 and got ready and watched some TV and read, before we headed down to the restaurant for breakfast. It was closed when we got there, but we were a bit early, so we went back to the room for a bit and tried again a bit later. This time it was open so we went in, but no one was there, so we had a look around the restaurant, and the function room that was joined to it, which had lots of little tables and a long one with two thrones on it! The lady came in and we sat down and had some cereal and juice and she made up some bacon and eggs/tomato and eggs, and a pot of tea. After breaky we went back to our room and after a bit there was a knock on the door, and George, our German tour guide for the day was there to pick us up. We drove into Hobart and picked up a girl called Pik-ki and an English girl called Lauren, then we headed up Mount Wellington. We stopped about halfway up and went for a walk for a bit, and got to the Sphinx rock lookout, which was a giant rock on a cliff with a great view of Hobart. From there we went up Sawman's Track, which was quite steep and was a bit of a workout! At the top of this track was the Organ’s Pipes, which were these steep cliffs that we were underneath, with amazing lines and stuff through them. Then we went on an easier track, downhill to where we started. We had some lunch – (Ham and) Salad rolls and hot chocolate and tea. Then we got back into the car and drove up to the summit. It was freezing cold up there, but the views were amazing! After a bit, the clouds all rolled in and we couldn’t see much anymore so we headed back to the car and drove back down the mountain. We dropped off Pik-ki first, and while we were stopped, I saw Monique (from NMIT) walk past! She stopped for a quick chat which was pretty random before we went to Laurens hotel. We arranged to meet up with Lauren and George later, cos George’s housemates band were playing, then we dropped Lauren off, before heading back to Richmond. We had tea at the restaurant there – a not quite cooked enough steak, and a vegie pasta. Then we had a spa and a snooze. Then we got ready and headed back into Hobart, where we went to the Brisbane hotel. The other guys weren’t there yet so we got a beer while we waited. Lauren got there and we went and played a few games of pool. Then George rocked up with a couple of his housemates, and after a few more games, we went into the band room. The band was really strange, with songs like "Get On The Dole" and “I Wanna Eat Your Daks” and they had a transvestite come up and sing a song. It was quite weird, but funny. The next band was really good, but I don’t remember what they were called. When that band finished we went and sat down by the pool table. We met a kiwi girl and her boyfriend who were from Melbourne. We snuck her into the band room for free, where her and Darren (who was quite drunk by this stage) decided it was time for some dancing and moshing. Eventually I got Darren in the car and we headed back to Richmond and went to bed.
