Kya Travels
We got up, got dressed and went and had our breakfast and talked to the guy there for a little bit. Then we packed up all our stuff and got in the car. We headed out to Tarrana, where we went to the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park. We got inside and saw the end of a devil feeding demonstration and the devils were playing chasy! Then we headed up to the kangaroo enclosure where we got to handfeed some Kangaroos, Geese, Pademelons and Wallabies. Then we went to another devil feeding. These ones were mating and the male was getting beat up by the female, he had a cut lip and everything! Then we went to the bird show where they had a galah, carrel?, tawny frogmouth and a peregrine falcon and another falcon. One of the falcons flew between Darrens legs! Then we went for a walk around and had a look at the raptors – hawks and a wedge tailed eagle – and did a bit of a nature walk, where we saw some wallabies. Then we saw another devil feeding. There were 3 devils in this enclosure, two were in their den cos they were mating. When the keeper put the meat out, the male came out to get it, and while he was out, the female ran away out of the den. Then the male chased after her and dragged her back to the den by the back of her neck! After that we saw the Eastern Quolls being fed, which were so cute! Then Darren bought a jumper and we got in the car and headed off towards Richmond. We stopped on the way at Denally for some lunch at the pub there. We had a vegetarian lasagna and a seafood combo. Then we continued on to Richmond. When we got there we stopped for petrol and directions and went to Hatcher's Manor where we were staying. The place was beautiful, like a mansion from the olden days. It had all this antique furniture and statues and stuff, chickens and horses running about the place and everything! We checked in and went to our room which was just as beautiful, with a king size four poster bed, and we had a bit of a nap and a read, before we headed into Hobart. We went to the Palace Royal Theatre, where we saw a play of The Wizard of Oz. It was pretty cool. After it finished we went to try and find some food. Because it was 10pm we didn’t have much luck, and just drove around for a bit. We went down to Salamanca place and saw people eating at a place there, so we parked and got out, but they’d just finished serving! The waiter there told us of a 24hr bakery around the corner, so we went there and had a pie (vegetable + beef/cheese). Then we headed back to Richmond and went to bed.
