Kya Travels
Today Daz and I didn't wake up until about 1:30, and thought we'd better get up, so we got ready then headed downstairs. And no one else was awake! So we got the guitars out and worked on a song for a bit. Which turned into playing guitar until Ciaran woke up at 5pm! He got up and woke Darren up as well, then shortly after, Chris got home from work, and a friend, Felix dropped by as well to pick something up, then left again. So we had another jam with Darren and Ciaran, and got a few more tips and guitar lesson stuff as well as chatting to each other a bunch. After a bit, Daz and I went for a walk to the corner shop for some bread, then to the off license for some beers, then to the chippy for a bunch of chips for everyone for dinner, then went back and ate and drank for a while. Darren was trying to organise help for another couchsurfer who was supposed to be arriving that night, who had flown into Belfast only to find his credit card had been cancelled, so he was stuck! Darren was able to talk to the security guard at the station in Belfast and they ended up letting him on the next bus to Derry for free, which was so nice. So after a few hours chilling, jamming and eating, Joshua from the US arrived, and after a quick chat, he went to his room to use the wifi and try to sort out his card problems! Eventually it got to about midnight and Darren, Daz and I headed off to go to check out a pub. We walked down to the city centre and went to an Irish pub called Paedar O'Donells, where they had some traditional music playing which was pretty cool, but hard to see as the place was so packed. We got a beer and had a chat with a girl from Dublin, Sorcha, and her father, before they headed off. We met a bunch of people Darren knew through couchsurfing, then we met a whole heap of Aussies, including a guy from Belmont, which is 5 minutes from where we lived! We chatted with a Texan girl who wanted to move to Australia, and were talking about the pros and cons of a place like Geelong. The music finished up at about 1am, and the place started to close up, so we headed off down the street. We stopped at a place called Hillbillies for some takeaway chicken and chips (which was apparently the best chicken ever!) then walked back to Darren's place with the Texan girl, an Aussie named Matt or Michael, and a German girl named Finsa. Ciaran and Chris were still there and we all squished into the tiny living room and had a few drinks and played some cover songs on the guitars and chatted for a while. The German girl was falling asleep in her seat at one stage, then after a bit, Daz and I said goodnight and headed up to the bedroom where we jammed out a few new ideas on the song we'd been working on that morning before going to sleep.
