Kya Travels
I woke up this morning and it was actually still early enough to get breakfast! Darren had already been up a while and had some fried eggs, so I got up and got some French Toast with a type of feta or goats feta or something. It was tasty! We wifi'd for a while and when we were both ready we walked down to the film festival. Again! There were some short films that had just started, so we snuck in at the credits of one film and watched some more movies! My favourites today were an animation where death comes with his reaper and tries to take a guy, but a bunch of stuff keeps happening to thwart him, and the guy ends up being electrocuted back to life and death falls out the window! Pretty funny. Another was an English one where a guy gets drunk after losing an arm wrestling match to his girlfriend and spends the rest of the night drunkenly trying to show that he's as big a man as his best mate, and annoys everyone. It wasn't really a comedy as such, but we found it pretty amusing! After the movie we went back (yes, again) to the Chinese place, and I ordered the eggplant dish again. Only this time it came out with meat in it! After explaining that I didn't eat meat and had got the exact same dish two days earlier, I eventually got another one brought out. So Darren and I ate together, but separate! And to top it off they tried to charge us for both meals! Annoying! This USED to be a good restaurant! After lunch we headed back to the hostel where we hung around for a while and had a snooze. When I went out of the room again a bit later I ran into Matt.A, who was keen to find an Indian restaurant we'd talked about the night before, so I went to wake Darren up and we met the Matts downstairs and set off. The map I'd gotten from the Indian restaurant's website was very vague, and was only good up to a certain point, so when we got to that part, we were guessing, and apparently guessed wrong. We ended up wandering around for a while, and asked four different people for directions and got sent in four separate directions, and also lost Matt.A for a while too, but eventually we found the right street, and after a couple of blocks we finally found it!! Yay! So we sat down and ordered the whole shebang. Entrees, mains, sides and a couple of bottles of wine, so it ended up being a very delicious, but pretty expensive meal. (For Albania, anyway! Even expensive meals are cheap here!) The wine was especially nice, a 2011 shesh i zi, from Berat, Albania, called ÇOBO. After dinner we started our way back to the hostel, and halfway there decided we'd try and find a rock club we'd been told about. We didn't find it, but we did find an 'AFC'. Albanian Fried Chicken. Even the writing was the same as KFC, it was pretty funny! So we headed back to the hostel instead for some more drinks and a chat. We'd picked up another bottle of the same wine from a little kiosk on the way home, but as we took our first sip, realised something was wrong... It was a 2010, not 2011, and it wasn't very nice at all! What a difference a year makes! After a few drinks and a chat with everyone there we headed off to bed.
