Stacey's cell phone rings at 2:15am from Dr. Klein. Someone had left the backdoor to the walk in clinic open and the security company called him as a contact. He was in California and tried calling the office manager, but she didn't answer her phone, so he called Stacey. Did she know who closed last night? Umm…no. We're in Florida. It's after 2 in the morning. I'm not impressed, but Stacey doesn't seem to mind, at least not now. She looks up the phone numbers for him to try to call the girls who would have been working. Why wouldn't he call someone not on holidays? Like another walk in clinic doctor / owner of the clinic? /shrug.
We're awakened by my alarm at 7:10am and drag ourselves up to shower and finish packing. It's a good thing we packed last night. At 8:02am, there's a knock on the door from bell services. They've already picked up someone else's bags, and we're second on the list. Pretty prompt and efficient, no?
We meet Amy for 9am breakfast and use up our dining plan credits. We figure out that on the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan, you're better off using snack credits for breakfast, using your meal credits for lunch and dinner. Breakfast only gets you a drink and an entrée. Lunch and dinner credit gets you an appy, entrée, drink and dessert. Better value. It's busy at the food court, so we switch off watching luggage while in long lines for food. They manage to mess up Stacey's omelet, adding cheese, so she has to go back and get it remade.
We see Amy off at 10am for her bus pickup between 10:20 and 10:30. Hope her trip home goes well. Stacey and I wait for a bit in the food court and checkout before 11am. We check in with the cruise rep at noon and wait for the 12:20 bus time.
There's a few stops as we pick up other people at other resorts on the way back to port, and strike up conversation with a couple taking their first Disney cruise. Their names are Richard and Wendy. Very friendly, and they ask lots of questions. It takes about an hour to get back to port where we finally see our ship, the Fantasy, sandwiched before 2 Carnival cruise ships. It looks big. Our luggage will be delivered to our room, so we just walk in with our daypacks and check in. Since it's already near 2pm, they've already started letting people onboard. We take a picture for Richard and Wendy and they of us before walking onto the ship. It's got a much larger atrium entryway than the Wonder, that's for sure.
Stacey starts taking pictures and we start making our way to the room to drop off our stuff and go exploring. It's not long before it's sail away time. I go up to watch us move away from the pier, while Stacey prefers to stay back and unpack her luggage, which has arrived outside our room door.
We catch the welcome aboard show in the main theatre and have dinner in the Enchanted Garden restaurant. It's decorated like a garden area that gradually changes from daytime to sunset to nighttime. Cool effect. Our new tablemates are Mike and Darlene, retired military and civil service worker. They lost everything in a flood about a year ago, so they decided to retire and move to Cozumel, Mexico and have been there about 4 months. Her mother has moved there as well. Cheaper to live. We also have Mark and Cathy, a grade 6 teacher and a lawyer, who are Disney vacation club members and know a lot of Disney stuff. Both couples seem to have travelled the world a fair bit.
After dinner, it's straight to bed. Not much sleep the day before, and a long day today. Goodnight.
