It was really really hot yesterday morning. We went a walk down to the Market with Jess to get some flip flops for Tess and attempt to find a mosquito repellent that actually works (with the state of our legs this morning we failed!).
Thankfully we'd left the bikes in Kob Rei Reil yesterday so we shared a tuk tuk with Naseem. Joni had started work at 7 this morning and when we got there she was feeling really ill. Instead of gardening I helped her out with the students who are training as tour guides. They have their first tourists tomorrow so were running through their route and practicing answering questions. We decided to go by bike so ended up cycling round the villages with 25 of the teenage students. Tess hitched a ride on Nahda's motorbike so my bike was a bit lighter. Was really good fun as the roads are so bumpy and full of holes and ditches and puddles of deep mud - lots if screaching and screaming and laughing! At one point had to cycle bikes through knee high water in a field all desperately trying (and failing!) to not fall off! Went out to the crocodile farm which was great - a bit scary walking over a bridge only a few feet above 500 big crocs who only get fed once a week! The farm has over a thousand in different pens. Most are not sold until they are 20 years old. The kids were really good at telling us about them and answering even Tess's questions. Got back on bikes and went out to a SHCC classroom that's much further out than the main school. Only one class which has pupils aging from 3 to 21 in it and only 2 teachers. They are all so determined to learn English though that they really don't mind.
Cycled back to school and did some gardening for the rest of the day than sat and chatted with domden, Khon and SoTear.
Had to cycle back which I was looking forward to completely forgetting that Tess was coming on the back of my bike, past twice she's gone with someone else on a tuk tuk. Really hard work but nice cycling at sunset. Got onto the very long main road and a girl pulled up next to me on her motorbike and asked if she could practice English! Couldn't really say no so ended up trying to keep pace with her with Tess weighing me down and trying to have a conversation in proper English, I was exhausted by the time we reached the turn off to Siem Reap (about 6km!)
we had all planned to go to the pub quiz tonight but got back to Jasmine and everyone was absolutely shattered. No one could be bothered moving at all so just lay on the big comfy couches, had some food and beer and chatted til 11ish.
