Went to cultural village yesterday which had various bits and pieces about Cambodia, nice gardens, statues etc. Jess came along with us, nice to have another adult about although Lewie and Tess are so excited to have someone else to talk to they literally don't stop for breath. We all had a go at archery - Lewie was brilliant, not only hit the board but got a bullseye but we girls were more than useless. Could barely hold the bow the right way up!
When we'd came in the enterance a group of guys had run over and started taking photos of us. We had no idea what they were up to but when we got half way round a group of 'you buy from me' women (who thanks to Mario are now known as Spam) came running over to us with plates and wall plaques - all with our photographs stuck on them, hilarious!
Came back to hostel about 4 and sat upstairs for a while out of the sun. Lewie played on the computer while tess and jess watched a film and I read a book about the Khmer rouge which is fantastic but I should maybe save it for in my room as I'll probably end up in tears. The rain still hadn't come by 5 so the upstairs area of the hostel started filling up with people waiting for the rain to pass before going out. Mario (guy from Croatia) cane and joined us, really interesting guy, spoke about war and eastern Europe for ages. Ab Australian girl sat with us after a while and turns out she's starting at same school as us tomorrow. Good to get to know a few more people, have only had the kids to talk to for 4 weeks now!
By 7 the rain hadn't started so we headed down to the Market for a BBQ. Obviously as soon as we got there the heavens opened! We were lucky to have a seat under a canvas cover but the people out in the middle of the square had to make a fast dash for cover and the chefs at the bbqs had a constant steam of water to contend with. Had one game of pool then home as we start work at the school tomorrow
