Well the picture is not quite a representative of the area - but there are no camels!!!!!
Yes we are in Holy City - which means no meat, no alcohol and no drugs -oh and no horn blowing!
The drive into the place was a big , how do a put this, let down - lets say the phrase "quarry pit" first came to mind - the lake had dried up and so the area looked a little baron!
We get dropped at the Lake Palace - the views are pretty good from the roof top restaurant - we just have to imagine the water in the lake!
We decide to have a read on the first day whist sitting on the balcony in the sun - we are both suffering with the car sickness - not so good when the driving is so interesting here and the roads are not quite the standard we are use to! The sun tans are fading too and there are white patches appearing so a sun day is needed - even i have to admite i have some colour (yes Becky writting this - thought it was about time i made some contribution and took responsibility off Kristy)
The second day we head up to a Shavitri (think spelt right) Temple - well more accuratley Sandeep dumped us at the foot hill - and we have to walk - how rude - its also the first lot of physical excercise that we have done for a while! an hours hike up the hill! Views of Pushkar are worth the walk!
Walked back down - little more easily - its very hot here - i thinks in the mid 30s! back through the market - the people were not pushy and we were able to walk around without to much hassel - well we did have children asking our names and wanted to shake our hands - that and the picture taking - We are becoming celebrities!!!!!
Sat down on the ghats and watched the world go by - people washing in the water and meeting friends - all the Saree coulours brighten the area up. Walked past the Brahma Temple but got a little overwhelmed by the amount of people so headed back to the Hotel.
On the sun bathed balcony for the remainder of the day and listening to the hardcore rave music that could be heard from the town - later we fouund out it was a family wedding!
Have to put in that Kristy admitted that Pushkar was not to bad and takes back everything she said about it! There were no camels so this may have swayed the opinion.
