Pai
Yesterday was a pretty amazing day! We rented bicycles in town and road to a three tier waterfall. The ride was 8km both ways. It was a pretty good workout on the way there. The road was a small but constant grade upward and had some spots with steep hills which leveled out back to the steady grade upward. The scenery was stunning with mountains all around and a nice bright sunny day. Once we made it to the falls we walked around and swam a few times. The swimming areas are pools between the different levels of the falls. The water was cold but I surprisingly liked it because the sun was so hot. We hung out on the rocks watching the local boys slide down into the pools. They used to natural smooth stone as water slides.
Once we left we hopped on our bikes for the fast and easy 8km coast downhill! We noticed we were the only people on bicycles. There were lots of people there and a whole lot of scooters in the parking lot when we left. Lazy lazy farrangs!
On the coast back we stopped at a small chinese village. It was pretty much set up for tourists but it had an amazing back drop of mountains and some cool little huts. It was worth checking out and wandering to take a few pictures.
Once we made it the rest of the way back to Pai we stopped for food at a nice little restaurant with two for one Mojitos!
We spent the rest of our night at the jazz bar with some more sang som and enjoying open mic night. Jason went up and played and sang a bunch of songs. It was pretty cool! There were quite a few people who played. One hippy girl sang a song she wrote about Pai. It was pretty funny. Basically how she came to visit and didn't want to go by had to. Then she came back because the hippies in Pai are so much nicer. It was a cute song and it seems like there are lots of people here that never left. The guy who hosted the open mic night came to Pai for three days....four months ago. I can see why. I could easily stick around here biking in the mountains and chilling for awhile!!
Our plan for today was to wake up early and bike to a canyon about 9km away. We were then going to catch a bus to Mae hong son and do a three day trek before making our way back home. Michelle started feeling ill last night and is still not well today. It is nothing too bad but there is no point being uncomfortable and sick on a four hour bus ride. We are now thinking we will stay in Pai a couple more days (or months haha) and then head to Chiang Mai again for a night before we fly to Bangkok and journey home. We will see what happens! Hopefully she feels better tomorrow. Nothing to worry about though she will be fine!

Hana Kyle, you really swam in cold water??!! That's a new milestone for you, lol... Jason, I didn't know that you are a musician, and what about Niki she didn't dare to sing?? Not enough alcohol in blood to dare?? Shame on you!!
