It was a little sad to leave Cairo behind us. Once you see its charm it is a beautiful place! However the show must go on and that was but a side stage performance! A grand one but a short one.
I'm not sure where to begin because I have no separation in days from the Egyptian museum and here in Thailand.
No issues with our flight to Bangkok. It was over night so we tried to sleep as much as we could. I slept lightly but got a few hours of decent sleep in I think. Our flight was a little over 8 and a half hours. The take off was a bit uncomfortable since the engine made noises it should not be making. Loud scary noises. But we stayed afloat and made it to Bangkok where it was super hot and a beautiful airport. We killed about 4.5 hours here then caught our flight south to Krabi.
Once we had our bags collected we went to the spot where you get taxis. Here there were 3 booths each with 3-4 Thai women inside. As soon as they saw us looking at the sign all of them from all booths started shouting hi hi here over here come come look here over here. We were in Thailand. It was hilarious and caught me off guard. We went and talked to one and hired a car to take us to our end of town.
In Thailand they drive on the left hand side of the road. We were not thinking about this and when our driver opened his door - the passenger side for what we are used to, Niki thought he was opening the door for her. Once we realized we had a laugh and got in the back.
On the way over it was raining and we saw a guy on his motorcycle with an umbrella infront of him. Driving the damn thing and using it as a wind/rain shield up to his eyes and covering the headlight with it in the process. It was pretty funny.
The driving style in Krabi is way more relaxed than Cairo! No horns no excess speed and certainly no weaving through traffic.
We arrived at our hostel and were shown to our room. It is a very nice separate room with a front porch. Inside is nice looking and the bathroom is pretty cool. You go in and turn right to see the shower, and the outside. No window. Your shower is pretty much outdoors with a wall around 6"5' around it. Of course it looked super appealing after a long day in Egypt and a long flight to thailand. It has no hot water but when it's over 30 outside the cold water is warm! Check out chan cha lay in Krabi on google to see the place.
After we cleaned up we headed for the streets. We went to a local market. A night time food market. Now that's my kind of place! We had 2 big beers and 2 amazing meals. Mine was pork and noodles and niki had chicken rice and hot hot HOT sauce. We sat for awhile enjoying the market life then settled our bill. Grand total worked out to be just over $7 Canadian. Can't complain about that!
After food we went for a walk along the pier beside where we were eating and checked the ferry schedule for tomorrows trip to Ko phi phi island.
After the walk we came back and sat on our porch and are now ready for bed! It is 11:40 pm here. We went ahead another 5 hours today for a total of 11 hours ahead of Canada. Life is good!!!

Shelley Sounds like an amazing adventure so far Kyle and Niki! Some funny stories and I'm sure there will be more to come.
Michelle Good morning and welcome to Asia! You two are probably waking up to go to one of the most stunning parts of the world, after eating a meal of thai curry, while I am sitting here still in my makeshift pajamas wrapped in one sheet because all my blankets are sold and clothes are sent home, freezing to death because the weather suddenly turned frigiid, jealously reading as I finish packing up and working on things I need to print, eating cereal with milk I am pretty sure is bad (its a weird greeny yellow color). I know I will be there in just a few days, but right now it feels like an eternity especially with all the lavish descriptions that make me want forget all my responsibilities and be there with you guys NOW! So awesome guys, so glad you are having a blast.
Hana Guys, this blog is more food adventure than anything else, lol.. hope you saved at least one special Slovak cheese (parenica) for my poor starving Mys!! It's ok Sheu, complain as much as you want but I don't feel sorry for you, you'll be joining them sooo soon. In the meantime I have Misko for company with his tuna smelling breath, eating depends on my cooking skills or what not, enjoying the site of Workopolis of all places, ha,ha,ha... Mother Niki, your son is doing great, just had a ferrocious fight with the local cats, protecting his territory. He got some scratches, but he is the "King of the Hood"!!
Michelle hahahaha mom you are so cute and funny lol!
