Note I posted another entry from Khao Sok at the same time as this entry so navigate over and check it out!!
The day we left Khao Sok (yesterday) consisted of waking up at nine. We packed up our things and had one more cold shower in the jungle. We went down to the lobby and checked out hoping to do some email checking and post a blog only to find the Internet was down.
At 11:30 our minibus showed up and we were off to the Surat Thani airport. Our driver was a little bit crazy. It was raining and the twisty mountain roads were wet. Our driver chose to tail vehicles in front of us while flying downhill on corners. We made it to the airport after a couple of hours.
Our flight to Bangkok was...well I don't even know what to say about it. It was a solid hour and fifteen minute nap. From takeoff to landing I was out like a light.
At the airport in Bangkok we still couldn't find any wifi that would work. We seem to have the worst luck for Internet!
We waited around at the airport for a few hours. Had some dinner and read a bit about Bangkok to figure out where we should go. Once Michelle and Jason showed up we had our little reunion and grabbed a taxi for a good price to take us fourty minutes across town.
He dropped us off and we wandered the streets checking prices at all the hostels on our block and finally settled at "budget guesthouse".
Once settled in at our new swanky hostel (just kidding it's bare bones not even a receptacle to charge anything in your room) we set out on search of food! We ended up on the main street full of tourists food stalls and street side store stalls.
We found ourselves a table in front of 7/11 and got a pitcher of beer from there and pad thai from the closest food cart. Gotta love Thai "street meat".
We wandered the street a little more and stopped for another beer at a place with a large cooler and a couple of tables. We hung out visiting until midnight and were all tired and ready for bed.
Bangkok at first glance in the dark seems like a normal big city. Not overly dirty or overwhelming. We will see how it is during daylight. I wonder if every person you see will offer to bring you to a ping pong show during the day. I hope that's only a night time thing.
