Alarm goes off at 6.15am. It does not feel good. Rhona and I are a bit worse for wear with lots of driving to do today to Bakersfield, California. We drive first to Death Valley. It's super hot. Have a wee picnic and see a coyote. Feel so much better after eating lunch...I'm back in. We are surrounded by such odd shaped land. Volcanic plates have caused the land to push up and then storms of heavy downpours have shaped it into odd formations. It looks like its been designed. Even when you're standing looking at it it looks fake. Like it's just a massive artists canvas and someone is about to tear through it and tell me I've been punk'd.
We drove down to the lowest, hottest, driest point in the states. Vast stretches of salt lake were before us. I ate some. Tasted like salt. Some decent photo opportunites with fun perspective magic. Messed about for quite a bit before starting the long drive to Bakersfield. Drove the wyndiest road EVER. Right along a riverside with no barriers, super close to the edge. A wee bit scary but I know we are in good hands. Went to a Hooters for dinner. Had some eat then hit the hotel and then the sheets. Another early start tomorrow.
