Shorter hike today, but very hot. I've become my own beast of burden. I've been told that a taxi can take my bag to each destination for 6 euro per day. Somehow it seems to defeat the purpose of this trek, but I might be tempted later on. Some people actually ride burros I've read, but no sign of that yet.
Today I walked with a man from Madrid, a woman from Iceland, a woman from Germany, a policeman from Rome, and a Romanian women who lives in Sweden but works mainly in London. Everyone has a different story.
The past 2 days' hikes covered a similar landscape; vineyards, wildflowers, and numerous climbs and declines. Although hot, it's really pretty. It's not that difficult to imagine how boring the landscape would be without the colors that are present now.
I've learned that arriving at a hostel early provides hot water, a chance to do laundry in a timely manner, and toilet paper in the bathroom. Today's hostel is very nice on the outside, but I'm not so sure when the bedding was last washed. Hope that anti bedbug spray really works.

Cary Sounds like you roughing it!
Neil Good to hear from you. I was already considering the possibilities that (a) you were eaten by a wild field mouse, (b) consumed by your own stomach after your bars ran out, (c) washed in the laundry along with the hostel sheets, or (d) beginning a new rustic life in a cave in the mountains. Enjoy the moments and keep in touch, lest I need to invent new hypotheses.
robin liking that taxi idea, but you know if it was me(which it would not be!) it would be more than the pack in the cab enjoying the scenery. your experience is far more rich than that for sure!! you are missing lots of rainy weather here punctuated periodically by a few gorgeous days ....be safe.
Susan Knew you were just fine. I think I might be tempted to walk without the pack ...especially when it is hot outside. Here, everything is very green and very wet!
