So, last night was a fun night in room 304..... first I got woke up by a guy having a shower at 2.30am - seriously, why??
Then the dude in the bed opposite me decided to bring a mate home at 5am so that was an experience!!! Literally never been so happy to have ear plugs!! Wish I had brought an eye mask too - saw a lot more than I needed too! ha ha
I woke up pretty early so went down for breakfast about 8, leaving my roomies to sleep - they hadnt seemed to have got much sleep in the night believe me!
Breakfast was the usual - boiled egg with cheese and bread!
I sat in the hostel bar with my coffee for a bit then decided to go and explore - I had wanted to visit an area with 1930's art deco houses in plus a street called Witte de Withstraat which is meant to be quite a cool area with lots of street art and bars and cafes. However, I had forgot it was Sunday morning and there was literally no one about and none of the shops or cafes were even open! So I took a few pics then nipped back to my room (giving a knowing nod to the two pals who were sheepishly trying to find their clothes!!) and got my laptop to do some blogging in the bar. Its so hard to find time to write, but I really want to keep it up and do as much as I can when I have time. Although I am not sure how many people wanna read my blabbering posts!!
After a couple of hours writing I headed out again, back to the street to find more street art and saw a couple of cool old cars on the way! Rotterdam really isnt pretty, but it has something about it that I really like. Its a living city where there is more locals than tourists and I like that. It still wasnt mega busy but I suppose its just like going out in Leeds on a Sunday afternoon really.
I had a couple of beers on my way and then went for lunch - no omelette this time! I had an ace falafal salad and some feta cheese rolls at a moroccon restaurant washed down with a belgium fruit beer - amazing! (I am so glad I got a card that doesnt charge for foreign transactions before I came as everywhere really prefers you to pay by card - just FYI!!)
I then went for a few more beers (hey, this girl likes a drink!!) and sat chatting to a bar man who had lived in Cardiff for a few months. He told me he loved English comedies and then went on for about half an hour about Keeping up Apperances and how much he loved Onslo!! Bless, I didn't have the heart to tell him its a pile of crap!! ha ha.
It was about 8ish when I left so I headed to the old harbour near my hostel and spent a few hours drinking gin, sat outside with a fire and a blanket - perfect!!
