We heart Icelandair!!
No seats left in the carriage so we got upgraded to 1st class, our lucky day!!!
This consisted of champagne on arrival, wine and any other drinks on tap, a fancy three course meal with bread and cheese to follow, huge seats, blankets, pillows, dr.dre like headphones and L'Octtaine goodies. Look around us and its full of older, posh or well dressed people, and there's us in our three day old clothes. But if I could fly like that every time, I certainly wouldn't complain.
So on we arrive in Toronto. Coming from average temperatures of 15 with a cold wind, to about 30 degrees with a hot wind hitting us as soon as we stepped out of the airport, was a bit of a shock! After a bus, a subway, a streetcar and a 10 minute walk, we reach our hostel. ($3 instead of $18 for the airport shuttle, worth it!) Arriving in the dark, with high temperatures and the day before bin day, Kenny was thinking, where the hell have you taken us? Luckily reach the hostel, Planet Traveller and its brill. Only refurbished last year, it has Mac computers, a rooftop terrace that looks over Toronto and nice bathrooms. Rooms a bit small, and the first night was soo hot, I woke up looking like Monica outa friends the time they went to Hawaii!! So not really knowing where to go, we took a map and started walking. Having talked to the girls in the hostel, they said to take a streetcar here and there, but we didn't have a clue so just walked. First mission was a new pair of trainers; having left home with just walking boots and flip flops. (that's what U get for packing in a hurry!) so did a bit of browsing, soo hard not to buy anything in the Guess shop!! Kenny had had enough of city life for one day, so we got on the boat and headed to Toronto Island. For another little walk and a bit of relaxation after days on the go. Saw some Canadian geese, a black squirrel and some other bits of random wildlife, plus a mini farm.
One of The best thing about Canada is you can buy slices of pizza, so got a great wee place just across the road from our hostel. The rest of the night was spent packing; we will soon learn not to unpack most of our stuff at every location as its a complete nightmare to repack!!
So very little done in Toronto this time, but we have three days after our tour to explore a little more :)
