Well I have now completed the whole trip, I had such an amazing time, the trip from Alice Springs to Darwin was pretty boring as there was lots of driving but there were 2 buses and we did everything together, Most of the group from the first 3 days were on the same bus which was good.
The drivers were really funny, my driver Molly was crazy. On the first morning he was going on about straight roads saying that on this part of the trip you dont get to do many left or right turns and he went through all the turns we would have done on our Ayres Rock trip!! He had a little companion called Mr Hanky who helped him out with decisions.
We saw the Tropic of Capricorn. Which to be honest I'm a bit confused as to the point of it, it looked like a sundial! We visited Barrow Creek Telegraph Station, which was in the news a few years ago as an english couple were drinking there with some locals then the next day while they were driving, i'm guessing they stopped for something and the guy got murdered, the women was getting the blame but she said it wasnt her, thier names were Joanna Lee's and Paul Falcono.
Next stop was the Devils Marbles. Which are huge boulders of rocks, which are said to represent a farmer who was hearding his animals and they stoped there to rest and the animals ate the plants and grass and when the farmer awoke the next morning all his animals were dead!
The next morning I was up at 5.30, we went to a pub called Daly Waters which was really cool. People that visited left pictures or items of clothing in the bar an all the walls were covered in bras, knickers, football shirts and photos of people it was really cool. We then had lunch at a place called Pink Panthers. They had a free zoo so we had a look around there and even got to see a crocodile being fed! It was pretty scary when the croc's mouth shut it was really loud! Wouldn't fancy being eaten by one thats for sure!!
The next stop was the best stop of the day at Mataranka Bitter Springs! We had a much needed swim after a long day on the bus.
We stayed in Katherine that night and the next morning we went to Katerine Gorge and went on a boat trip it was good fun, we then went to Edith Falls which was really nice. I had a nice swim. I was a bit scared though as most of the waterholes have warning signs about crocodiles as Saltwater Crocs can get in to these during the wet season! Luckily its the begining of the wet season so any that might have got in last year would have been long gone!!
The we finally arrived in Darwin, I had a really good feel about the place as soon as I got there. In the evening we went to The Vic and had a free meal! It was so nice I had lasagne and chips! It was good to have chips! Danni who I did Oz Intro with lives in Darwin so she came to meet me, it was good to catch up with her.
Well the next 3 days were by far my favourite part of the trip! We went to Litchfield National Park on the first day and went to 2 amazing waterholes, Buley Waterholes and Florence Falls. Both of them were amazing!! We also went to an aboriginal cultural centre and I tried to play the Digerido, I was crap! We were meant to do a cruise on the Mary River but it was raining so we got to do it the next day. Oh my god it was amazing!! We got up close and personal with wild crocodiles! I loved it, it'd not seen croc's in the wild before! It was wicked.
Next we headed into Kakadu to Maguk waterfall. The walk in to the waterfall was up to our shins in places, we had to cross a river which was pretty scary as there was a really strong current. When we got to the waterfall we were told that there might be crocs in there! I had a quick swim anyway because I was so hot! A few others swim over to the waterfall which I thought was a bit scary I just stayed close to where it was easy to get out! Then we visited a place called Ubirr and saw lots of rock art which was pretty cool. We climed up some rocks and the view from the top was amazing, everywhere was so green.
That night we stayed at Kakadu Lodge. We all went for a swim when we got there, it was nice not to have to worry about crocs! On the last day we went to a waterfall within the park call Gunlam. It was a really rocky and steep walk to teh top but it was worth it. There were a few different waterholes all linking in to one, the rocks were really slippery though so you had to be careful.
Then it was back to Darwin! Like I said this was by far my favourite part of the trip I loved swimming in all the different waterholes and seeing the crocs. Again I meet some really nice people on this trip, Naomi, Monic and Ron, he was a doctor and was so funny. Jack gets here in a couple of hours!! i'm so excited to see him i've really missed him!!
