we arrived in bangkok yesterday early. about 6am after such a rubbish time getting here. we were faffed about so much and made to hang about for probally about 4hours in total. At one place we stopped after the boat to wait for the coach, we ordered food and it sisn't even come in an hour and then they told us the coach was here and they took us some place else!! where we had to wait another hour. really boring and frustrating! at least when your on the coach your on it and can relax a bit!! coach's wern't as great as Malaysia but they did stretch out really far, quite narrow though so we both woke up with back and neck aches!! there were lots of txis waiting to meet us and we were dropped off on the khao san road.(backpacker central) we wanted to stay in siam square, where it would be a bit quieter and near all the shopping!! driver was mental he really made us laugh, and he didn't stop giggling and makin funny noises think he'd come to the end of a very long shift!! he tried to charge us one thousand baht!!! for half hour ride. got him down to 600, but seriousely it shouldn't (we now know) be more than 200 at the most. but we don't no if it was more cause of time or whatever?!
found somewhere nice to stay, clean, central, ac, hot water, tv! splashed out a bit 700baht bit more then we usually pay. couldn't get in till 9 so wandered off to have brekkie, could only find a noodle bar, but thats good cause i love noodle soup and rice soup, need to learn how to make it! then we pretty much slept all day. in the evening we decided to check out the kaoh san road and get dinner. we went half by skytrain and half by tuk tuk. quite strange the rail network isn't very complete doesn't cover an awful lot of the city. but we hadn't been on a tuk tuk yet so needed to do that! Kaoh San was busy, lots of bars, clubs and definately the cheapest sunglasses, got a massive pair of black ones. and the earrings are so cheap and there are so many!! one pair for 20baht 33pence! i've had to curbe my sunglasses and earring addiction though haven't enough days to wear them!
had a horrible nights sleep last night, our rooms crawling with tiny ants (pretty much the norm everywhere but not soo much) and i could feel them all over and was scared they was bed bugs!!
Today we went shopping, was going to do a river boat tour but it pissed down! MBK was amazing, like heaven! so much, so cheap! jewellry, make up, clothes, electricals, shoes we both loved it.its crowded and busy and you can barter it has a fun atmosphere. and they have the most amazing food halls with everything you could possibly want from all over the world, like turkish, arab, japanese, french, fusion, fish. got a good camera for 60 quid, which i checked on the internet and it costs 99quid in england . a skull and crossbones scarve, nail polish, ipod case and new head phones. we had to literally drag ourselves out!! then in the next shopping centre, this place was more like selfridges, quite posh with amazing architecture and fountains and stuff. anyway that was where the underwater world was, beneath it! so we went there and it was really good really modern, we got free popcorn and went on a glass bottom boat ride where a shark 3m long swam beneath it! quite scary, although the lady said if i did fall in its ok cause they only eat small fish!
tomorrow we shall go along the river, and see the grand palace and china town, probally some more wats!! jess wants to eat at a place she's heard of called cabbages and condoms so we'll have a nice meal out tomorow night! think we might head back to the food halls tonight food so good!
