The trip is coming to an end! This is our last night in Miami, before a loong trip home tomorrow. We have spent the last 4 days in Miami, South Beach to be excact. Our hotel is very central, a couple of blocks to the beach, and a couple of blocks to Lincoln road, the main street.
So, on Saturday we went a booked a Key West tour, which entitled us to a free City sightseeing tour, and a boat-canal trip for 6 dollars. We took the two last tours on Saturday afternoon, before that, we just had a walk around the shops, and got stuck in Macy's for a while. Miami doesn't really have that many sights to see, so the sightseeing tour wasn't all that good, but at least we got to drive through all the different neighbourhoods, and had half an hour in Little Havana. After that, we got on a boat that went to the different little islands in the water surrounding Miami. There were lots of celebrity homes, as Miami loves glitter and glamour! There are so many shops with glittering clothes, and the shoes and so high, I don't understand anyone can walk in them. Apparently the fashion here in Miami, is as tight and as little clothes as possible, teamed with so high heels that almost no-one seems to be able to walk properly in! I have yet to see any celebrities though, but I have seen enough people with too much plastic surgery. Maybe some of them are celebrities, who knows?
On Sunday, we took a loong day trip going all the way down to Key West. The tour started at 6.30, and ended at 21.30! I didn't really know what to expect, but the drive down all of they keys, was loely, and when we finally got to the city of Key West, 4 hours later, I was very pleased to find a cute, quaint, little town. It was so..different! There were so many colours, and only small houses, no skyscrapers. There was almost like a western-theme there, as all the houses looked old-style. It is difficult to explain, really. It was just, nice! So we spent our day walking around, looking in shops, and taking lots of pictures. We also went to the most southern spot in USA, and had our picture taken there. It is only about 120 km away from Cuba!
Today, Monday, we have walked down the whole Miami beach, until the south tip, it was nice aand sunny, so it was good to tan and work out at the same time! On the way back up, we walked along Ocean Boulevard, which is somewhat equivalent to Venice Beach in LA. People on rollerblades and bikes in their bikinis. There are lots of nice art-deco buildings in different colours here in Miami too, so it is fun just looking around. The afternoon was spent doing some last shopping. I managed to spend quite a lot at Victoria's secret..again! It is my favourite shop! I also bought some nice winter shoes at Macy's, but I can't fit them in my suitcase, so I will have to wear them tomorrow! Warm!!
We are not sure how to get to the airport tomorrow, as we are flying out of Fort Lauderdale, and we are currently in Miami. But I think we will take a taxi to the train station, then hop on a train that goes to Fort Lauderdale Airport. Getting a taxi all the way is almost 100 dollars! I guess it will work out some way or another. I hope the trip home will be alright, we will fly overnight, so hopefully time will pass quickly!
I have had a good time on this trip, and had my first taste of cruising. I like it, and I hope that it won't be long until next time! :-)
