Kim's Travels
Today I got woken up at 7 all ready to catch our bus for 7.45 only later to realise it was actually at 8.15. I assumed Tom knew about this and as he's super duper organised anyway I guessed he was up and about doing something else, however when the bus full of people finally turned up at nearly 9.00 Tom was nowhere to be seen... I raced up to his room only to find him fast asleep! Of course one of us had to have a near-miss-the-bus-experience somewhere along the line! Anyway, on our way we stopped off at the worlds steepest street; Baldwin Street (it was actually bloody steep - imagine living up there!), and to see the Mauraki Boulders. They are incredible boulders on the beach, which havnt come from the sea but have actually fallen out from the earth?! Bizarre! They are almost perfect sphere shapes boulders just dotted along the beach. They looked almost like modern art. Perfect Kodak Moment! Very cool. We also went to take a sneaky peak at some sketched left on rocks by Marui people hundreds of years ago supposedly representing the coming of the europeans. We couldnt go up too far because there are actually Mauri ancestors buried there... Ew. It was cool but I have to admit did look like drawings my baby cousin could have done at nusery however it is meant to be very spiritual to the Mauri's so hey ho... Then we went to see a very snowy Mount Cook and arrived at our destination; Lake Tekapo, where there was 6 inches of snow - absolutly covered! There was war against the English during a snowball fight but we all got back to our lush hostel safe and sound. The hostel was really lovely; litterally right on the lake, with an open fire, great showers, comfy beds etc... so we all felt in the land of luxury. I watched the NZ version of Eastenders (culture, culture) and we all ended up chatting by the fire untill quite late (how cute). Tomorrow, final stop, CHRISTCHURCH!
