We had a great day in Katherine yesterday. Stayed at Katherine Gorge last night which is like a resort for a campground with swimming pool and bar! Up at 6am this morning for a cruise up the Gorge to see spectacular sunrise That turned the rock walls ochre red. We also spotted our first crocs of the trip. We will arrive in Darwin later today

Arrived at Mataranka today after a solid 740km drive. The township has a population of 250 and sits on the upper reaches of the Roper River. The area was made famous by the novel "We of the Never Never" - written in 1908. We have set up camp next to the thermal pools at Bitter Springs and they are crystal clear and very inviting! We will take another dip tomorrow morning before heading to Katherine Gorge.

Left our camp at the Walkabout creek hotel in Western Queensland and arrived at Barkley homestead in the Northern Territory today. It's still about 30 degrees but a dry heat so quite pleasant. The last few days have been a bit of a blur but we stopped at Long Reach on the way through to visit both the Qantas museum and Stockmans hall of fame.
