Arrived at Mataranka today after a solid 740km drive. The township has a population of 250 and sits on the upper reaches of the Roper River. The area was made famous by the novel "We of the Never Never" - written in 1908.
We have set up camp next to the thermal pools at Bitter Springs and they are crystal clear and very inviting!
We will take another dip tomorrow morning before heading to Katherine Gorge.
