Our first impressions of Melbourne were a little fraught...trying to drive through the city was difficult, especially given that Australian road signage is apalling and maps are worse. The first campsite we tried was staffed by a snooty madam who then wanted to charge us an extortionate rate so we moved on and saved ourselves $6 (!) but wasted more than that in petrol trying to find the place! We headed off to the depths of Victoria to visit Trevor & Kath, friends we met on our Africa trip. The day didn't start off too well as we didn't know where Trevor lived and we had no signal on our phone. We decided to stop over at the seaside town of Lakes Entrance for 2 nights to chill out and relax. The town reminded us of a British seaside town with fish and chips, arcades and crazy golf along the promenade.
