We arrived in Napier on Thursday evening. Found our hostel. It was called Toad Hall, and as you guess the theme was the Wind in the Willows. It was a nice hostel but there wasn't many people around and it was freezing cold. However we did have free internet and washing.
Friday we split up and each did our own thing. I went to the museum, to learn about the earthquakes (I'm a bit obsessed) and had a wander round the town. Napier was destroyed in an earthquake in the 30s so it was rebuilt in the style of that time, which was art deco. i also went to the library to read up on america. Thats the fun life I lead.
Saturday we walked up to Bluff Hill point. Which took forever as it was up long and winding roads to the top of a hill. On the way back down we went to Napier Prison, which was shut down in 1993. They now do tours around it and its a backpacker hostel, which would be pretty awesome to stay in, if not a little scary. the prison was really cool. It didn't really look like a prison but it was really cool to see.
By the time we had left, we were running out of things to do. Its a really nice place but there wasn't alot to amuse us.
