Yet again, we attempted to get up early and failed. Left the hostel around 10 and got the train to Kobe, arrived at 11ish. Managed to get a super rapid train so it didn`t take to long. We also had seats so that was good.
When we got there, we had to search for a post office as both of us had run out of money and only the post office ATMs take our cards. Thankfully there was one in the station.
We were thinking about getting a day pass on the sight seeing bus but when we got to the ticket office we saw a map and decided that it wouldn`t be too far to walk to the first place we wanted to go, the sake (rice wine) brewery. That was perhaps a stupid plan as it was miles away and the map from the bus station was missing half the roads. After asking for directions twice we actually (by some miracle) made it there. We ate our sandwiches on the step outside the toilet (yet another random place we ate lunch) and then went in, it was free to get in and it was quite interesting to learn how they make sake. I`m always up for anything that involves free alcohol at the end! Though I can`t say I`m a big fan of sake.
After that we decided to be sensible and get the train back to the station and start again, just behind the station is the Ikuta Shrine (again free to get again) to be honest it wasn`t much different that any other shrine that we had seen.
From there we walked to this garden place, which we thought would be gardens but was actually a little shopping centre. Inside there was a chocolate shop, and the woman who makes the chocolates made us try some and they were amazing. The guy behind the counter was saying he liked football and Steven Gerrard (But then who doesn`t?) when he heard we were English.
Down the road, was an actual garden called the Sorakuen Garden, it was donated by the old mayor of Kobe or something like that. I liked it because it had alot of stepping stones over rivers and thats always fun! We then went to a Chinese temple, which was lot more colourful than the Japanese ones w had seen. It also seemed to have alot more decoration.
Down south from here we headed to Harbourland, where we didn`t do alot except wander round the shops, spending most of the time in the Snoopy shop (even though we had already been in at least 3 in the last 3 weeks) then we headed back to the station to get a rush hour train back.Lots of fun!
