Hello from the land of the long white cloud- new zealand!!

The last week has been eventful! We left johannesburg on Thursday afternoon - really sad to say goodbye to africa and all the amazing adventures we've had there. Along with the 11 hour flight to sydney, mo wasnt well on the plane - worst flight ever!! Anyway, by the time the next flight was over and we hit new zealand it was friday night and we were exhausted. Got talking to a couple at christchurch airport who live outside sydney and have offered us work on their farm with accommodation for as long as we need so we'll be taking them up on that offer!

New Zealand is hard to take in after 8 weeks of mud floors and dirty beds! Everything seems so clean and organised! Its going to get a bit of getting used to again. Christchurch was a big town with lots to do and see but we spent the first few days in the hostel, mo recovering from being unwell and both of us dealing with jetlag - not nice! you feel ill all day from exhaustion, go to bed and are awake all night hungry!

anyway we're much better now and back on the road. met up with mum, great to see a familiar face! we have hired a car and are steadily making our way round the south island, staying in backpackers and doing lots of touristy things. The best thing so far has been the moetaki boulders (see pic) which are these crazy round rocks on a beach just south of timaru - beautiful photos taken.

i've made little christmas decorations for the car and in the process of making an advent callendar - still doesnt feel like christmas though! Last night we were in Dunedin, lots of scottish history here as a lot of settlers came from Scotland. There is a huge statue of Robert Burns in the centre of the town as well as lots of street names and areas the same (corstorphine, princes st etc)

Today we go south into the catlins national park, see some forests and caves on the coast. Tonight we'll try and get to Te anu, a big town on the south west but we'll see how we go.

Dad - theres another parcel on route to you, prob get about mid jan.
