Having not got to bed until 3am again I was not impressed with the tribal breakfast drums being beat at 8am. Indeed I was very tempted to get up and shove the drum up whoever's arse it was sideways. After breakfast it was time to leave the island, and Li and Dani behind, for a night anyway as they would be in Nadi tomorrow. Back in Nadi with my bag dropped off at the hostel me, Mel and Ros decided to go to the town markets for souvenirs and fruit. Well I got the whale tooth necklace I wanted inspired by and a tribute to Cam for a good price but it was too hot to carry on walking around.
Post a 2-hour nap and feeling refreshed I headed to the bar where I met the girls, Fuyuki and an Argentinean-Italian guy called Mariano who the girls had met on another island. After having an amazing chicken-sizzler platter in ginger sauce for dinner I said goodbye to the girls who were heading off to LA and I had really enjoyed the last few days with. Hilariously Fuyuki wanted to wave them off at the airport and so got in the taxi with them. I intended to have an early teetotal evening but alas there was footy on in the bar and Mariano was a big football fan, so the evening was set. We chatted about Argentina for a while and it turned out he was also going to the World Cup. As we were chatting I noticed Kerry, Sebastian, Bix, who we had drank with on our previous night in Nadi, sat having dinner and went across to say hi and invited them to join us for drinks which they duly did, which was nice (said in a Fast Show style).
After spending an interesting day (shall we say) the previous day with Li and Dani in Nadi I woke up at around 6am for my flight to Sydney and was bloody freezing as I'd left the air-con on all night on full blast, which I would regret even more in the coming days. Met uncle Kev and cousin Steve at Sydney airport, the latter wearing his old puma Sheffield Wednesday shirt as promised and so was easy to spot. Upon arriving at the house final preparations for my cousin Emma's wedding the following day were being together. I met the groom Nick who seemed a lovely guy on first impressions. After dinner Steve took me down to his local haunt with his best mate AJ for a few beers and some pool. As is my want I started to drift off to sleep in the bar around 1am and so it was decided best to head back.
