September 30-October 4
Karen spent the next four days at the Las Vegas resort. They had a wonderful swimming pool and hot tub. It was close to the casino and shopping. The temperatures were very hot getting up to 94 and 96 on a couple of days. One of the days Karen drove to the Red Rock Canyon which was on the west side of Las Vegas. The scenic drive was a 13 mile loop with very pretty mountains and rock formations. It was definitely too hot to hike but not sure how much I would've enjoyed that on my own.
Karen used this opportunity to evaluate options of where we would continue on our trip. After investigating the possibilities leaving from Las Vegas, we decided that the best choice was to continue on with our original plan of going to Albuquerque to see the balloon festival.
When Kevin arrived back in Las Vegas on October 4 around 11 PM. We wandered up to Fremont Street to see a bit of old Las Vegas. This was definitely not where all of the highrollers were, but it was still a neat adventure, and a neat way to see part of Las Vegas. We drove down the strip and were amazed at all of the different hotels, and the number of people still out on the streets on a Tuesday.
