After a hot breakfast at our hotel, we headed west on I80. We stopped in Des Moines, which was a very neat, and very well-maintained city. We had a photo opportunity at a bridge over the Des Moines River, where there was a dam and fishing. There was a beautiful bike path along the river and several bridges crossing it. The bridge over the dam was a quite picturesque arch suspension bridge memorialize get local Women of Influence. Next we drove to the rather large, colonial, state capital building which was quite ornate with gold-plated domes at the top (thank you, taxpayers).
From there we headed to Seward, Nebraska, for an overnight visit with Robert, Lori, Ryan and Jack. We had a wonderful visit with them, viewing their Galapogos photos as well as photos from some of their other adventures, including an epic 14er climb that looked very challenging. It was very nice to get to know Lori and Jack, we had lots of stories and lots of laughs.
