Kevin and Joannie on tour
This morning the kids were all going off to school and Penny to work. Phil works at home and kindly ran us to the station. Unlike in the UK where you just ruck up a couple of minutes before the train leaves, here you have to check-in your luggage and wait in a departure hall. Passengers are called by group: business class, seniors, with children and the rest.
The carriages are large with lots of space to stretch out and to get out a laptop, unlike the long distance trains to Wales and Scotland which are cramped and tight. The train was quite slow and rather bumpy. We seemed to pass through five hours of farmland with not much growing.
There was a trolley service but they had run out of most foods by half way there. We had a cheese platter with carrots!
We arrived at Montreal during rush hour and it took $10 to just to turn round a block to head in the right direction.
We're staying at the Residence Inn Westmount on the edge of Downtown. The room is spacious with a kitchenette and balcony. We're very close to the Tube and a mall with food supermarket. Tired we had spinach pie with chips and veg.
