Kevin and Joannie on tour
Not much to report today. We received a mail overnight saying the VIA Rail strike was off and that we could take the train. However we had already bought tickets with Megabus. We hung around the flat and caught up with the blog before catching a taxi to the Megabus offices downtown.
Though we were an hour and a half early, we joined the well organised queue for unreserved seats. Some people tried to ignore the queue but were told off by an authoritative employee and made to get in line. The journey to Toronto was about as scenic as the journey to Montreal by train. However we did do a detour via 1000 Islands which looked attractive.
The bus had WiFi so Joan could use Messenger to contact Phil about our arrival. The journey was just under 6 hours and we caught another cab to our apartment on Pickering. It is a top floor apartment with three bed rooms, a spacious lounge and kitchen and a very long connecting corridor.
We decided to walk to Phil and Penny's and it was about 20 minutes away. It was great to see the kids, but they are all studying for their exams. Phil and Penny took us to a local pub on Queens Street for dinner called Outriggers. On the way a racoon ran in front of us and then scavenged in a bin for dinner.
After dinner we went back via Phil and Penny's and then home.
