Sapphire Coast
After an early morning start we hit the Princes highway north for the longest drive of our trip. Adhering to really low speed limits we stopped after a couple of hours for bacon rolls that we cooked at one of the hundreds of picnic spots with electric bbq's. Views in all directions were stunning and most of the trip looked like we were cruising through the set of home and away. Our favourite being gypsy point. The only thing missing were the river boys. All picnic spots have bbq's, parks, loos etc who needs a camp site. We lost count of the creeks we crossed and had a giggle at all the names, we drove through Stratford and crossed the Avon as well as blind Joe's, old Joe's and Double creek to name a few. Part of the plan had been to stop at Bucchan caves just after Lakes Entrance which we arrived at a couple of minutes too late for the tour, the view was however worth the detour. 800km's and many lake stops later we arrived at our cabin in Narooma for the next 2 nights. At some point we left Victoria and entered New South Wales for a new part of the holiday. Being in the land of upgrades we're now in a luxury spa cabin which is bigger and better kitted out than our first 2 homes in the UK. The location is fabulous, time for a bbq.
Today we set off exploring our local area. First stop was Tilba Tilba, famous for its wineries and olde worlde shops. It's a bit like going back a hundred or so years with a bit of a hippie feel. Alot of the towns around this area are similar to the eastern Transvaal and Rustenburg. Topped up on pastries we spent a couple of hours swimming at mystery bay which is by far the most beautiful beach we have seen and not being quite tourist season yet was our own private beach for the day.
Back in Narooma we sheltered from the sun by having a seafood lunch and a couple of fat yaks(beer) in a restaurant on a pier and fed the fish while the pelicans which are quite huge and menacing made sure we didn't get too close to them. Craig and the gang spent the rest of the afternoon kayaking around the lake, Oli being an absolute trooper on his first time out in a kayak came in begging for more.
