After 6 and half months in South America Hayley and I were actually looking forward to having and it seemed more like a 2 week holiday as was going to be such a contrast! We landed at Miami airport, and they public buses even had free wifi! We couldn't believe it. We got a great deal on this small hotel on 17th and Collins Ave right by the beach and heart of South Beach. It was boiling hot when we arrived but the beach time had to wait, shopping was the priority...nothing in my backpack was suitable for the bars and nightclubs we planned on visiting! Forever 21 came to my savoir and I actually found about 10 great dresses, I narrowed them down to 5, but at the reasonable price I had to buy them as they were all gorgeous and it had been so long (good friends know how much of a dress lover I am) In our usual networking style, we got in touch with various promoters so over the week got to enjoy beautiful meals, free entry and drinks at some of the best hotspots in Miami. The weather was a bit hit and miss during our week, so we had some beach time, and other time just to relax. We were really lucky and had an awesome Couchsurfing host called Anthony. He was also into the social scene and had a great group of mates so we all hung out together.
South Beach Miami was actually gorgeous, sometimes I find beaches can be overrated, but this was actually lovely, the water colour was pretty and the sand very clean. Two friends of mine from Bournemouth happened to be in Miami on holiday so we had a beach day with them and a huge catch up it was great! Then most exciting of all, our very own Miss Lauren Pincott happened to be over on business as she does the PR for the stunning W Beach Hotel, so we got to see one of our best friends after all these months, the timing couldn't have been better.
After about 5 days in Miami, we caught the Greyhound bus to Orlando it took about 5 hours and Semil, our Couchsurfing host came and picked us up, he had a nice, small apartment in a complex and a cute but fiery little dog called Mario. We spent the next few days going to the themeparks and had so much fun. We felt like little kids again, buying the big refillable popcorn tubs, racing to beat people in the queues and posing for all the cameras on the rides. We went to both Universals, Sea World and Busch Gardens and they all were amazing. The weather was perfect, blue sky everyday. We spent full days at the park and it was quite tiring but each one was so different. Well worth the money, the parks were amazing. It was so good to see all the amazing animals and marine life at Sea World and Busch Gardens too, the dolphins were just so cute!
We then hired a car and did a mini road trip along the western coast of Florida. It was beautiful, the beaches were amazing. We stayed in a motel and went for a gorgeous dinner. Then we drove back to Miami, it was cheaper than taking the bus and was so much fun. We had our music blasting, the sun was shining and we just loved the freedom of having a car. Back in Miami, we partied more and went to the beach, soaking up the Miami vibe, it was awesome. Then it was time to continue...and fly to Mexico!
