Wow how quickly does time fly! I have been living in the beautiful city of Vancouver for 6 months' now and I have loved every minute of it. It is definitely one of the best cities I have been to in the world and I love the mix of city and beach life, with so many incredible nature and outdoor adventures in close proximity.
I was fortunate enough to find a rental place in the stunning English Bay and we witnessed some great sunsets over the bay. The fantastic location made it a great base to explore the different parts of the city, from catching the mini ferries across to the Quirky Granville Island, hanging out in Kits Beach or watching the seaplanes land and depart near Coal Harbour. There is an amazing restaurant scene here too which is great for me being a "foodie". Though the nightlife obviously is no comparision to London and I do miss that a bit, there is still nice cocktail bars and some fun clubs.
There is a seawall which goes around the whole city, I enjoy walking that with friends or alone listening to music. I have taken advantage of the Grouse Mountain locals pass and gone up several times, watching the bears in the summer and snow shoeing in the winter!
My friends also took me to learn to ski at Whistler (90 mins away by car) it is amazing to think we can leave our city and easily drive (on one of the most scenic highways in the World) and get to one of the best ski resorts in the World, and come back that same day! I can't wait to hit the slopes again.
We have experienced a much milder winter than I was expecting in all honesty, and yes it rains a lot in Vancouver (though I am used to this from the UK) and let me tell you this, just one sunny day seeing the snow capped mountains across the sea makes it all worth it.
I also did a 4 day road trip around BC, and saw stunning waterfalls, turqoise lakes, snow capped peaks and then hugely contrasting dry canyons and old rail roads. We relaxed by the huge Lake Okanagan and visited the wineries.
It is truly an amazing place and region, I can't wait to explore even more.
