Our four hour Greyhound coach journey to Calgary went well...I fell asleep throughout most of the journey as I hadn't had any decent sleep whilst being in Edmonton hostel. Parts where I was awake I thought we'd repeated the journey several times (felt like Groundhog day) as the scenery was so repeatative; just flat land with the odd distant tree!
Instantly had a better feeling about Calgary. The streets weren't hussled with people and it generally was a cleaner place. There was more of an atmosphere in the hostel than Edmonton too. Once we dropped off our luggage we headed into town, where it was less than a ten minute walk to the shops. The street we wlaked down had some lovely buildings and interesting architecture - I annoyingly didn't take my camera! I instantly felt much more comfortable in Calgary than Edmonton.
Once back at the hostel, we had such a lovely suprise - one of our friends Barry from Banff hostel showed up! He has planned to do hand gliding in Calgary! We were all so shocked to see eachother!
Shame that we are leaving Calgary so early, as I felt we could have had a few more days to explore. But really itching to get over to the East side of Canada now. Not looking forward to our 2day and four hour coach journey to Toronto tomorrow though - works out 52hours solid travelling!
So, I try to have an early night to prepare for our longest journey yet - get into bed - trying to be as quiet as possible as someone in the room is already asleep - decide to read a little before bed and so attempt to turn on my bedside light, but can't find the switch, so assume I need to twist it - when it just comes completey away from the wall and in my hand! What made it funny was that Amy had been watching me the whole time without me realising and bursts out laughing, which makes me laugh and all the time I'm trying to be quiet!
(Turns out I needed to push the lightbulb in, which turns it on/off??!!)
