This morning we had to say our goodbyes to Dirty Girty (our truck). Nick drove us to the border (15 mins) and then we transferred our masses of luggage to a coach. I must admit that it was nice to have an air-conditioned coach to travel in, however we immediately noticed how anti-social the seating layout was and were grateful for Girty's layout over the last 4 months. Thankfully a coach for 20 had been booked even though we were only a group of 10. This meant that we could retain our 2 seat policy of which we have become accustomed and we could also fit all of our luggage.
We drove to Stellenbosch today and it was not until we arrived at 5pm that we were told we were leaving tomorrow at 6.30am when it suddenly dawned on us that we would not actually get to visit any wineries or other delights of Stellenbosch and this was really just a rest-stop. I blame poor planning on Oasis' part for this as a winery tour would have been a wonderful end to our trip. Not to worry, I have plans to come back in a few days so all is not lost.
Ruth and Nick organised a Braii for the group tonight as Yoshi is staying on in Stellenbosch to fully appreaciate the region prior to going to CapeTown to fly out. She really has been the closet alcoholic of the trip. It has amazed me how she stays so trim when she drinks both wine and beer every single day. What Ruth didn't mention was the fact that this was our 'last supper' of the trip. This was a shame as we all just treated it like another meal and we didn't have a chance to reminise over our trip at all. Most of the group headed out tonight for some wine in some local bars, however as I am still feeling pretty rough I decided that it was best to get a reasonably early night. Little did I know that this would result in 2 possible spider bites occuring as I slept which I would eventually have to go to the doctor for in Capetown as they do not heal without anti-biotics. Street cred with Xav and Lexi definitely went up a notch when I showed them my spider bites.
