This morning Rory and Shelley came to collect Laura and I for our 6 day adventure down the Garden Route. Unfortunately for Rory and Shelley, Laura and I were a little worse for wear having only gotten home from our night out at 5am and it was now only 9am...! Luckily for us we have booked to stay at the same hostel on our return next Saturday so we threw a few pieces of clothes in a small bag, literally threw the rest of our clothes into the hostels storage cupboard and we were off. Thankfully Rory and Shelley were not completely not suffering and so did not complain when a drive thru KFC was ordered. Hilariously they still have the big boxes that you yell your order into, it of course malfunctioned and we had to drive forward to give our order in person and then wait in the car park for our order to be carried out. We were all excited about drive thru to begin with and then completely disillusioned with the whole thing by the time our food arrived.
It has constantly amazed me over the past 4 months where people are and are not willing to spend their money. This morning I had another moment where I wondered why we had not spent an additional 10 pounds each and gotten a car that we could actually fit into! We were first presented with the problem that 4 day packs for the 4 of us barely fitted into the space that you may in some cars call a boot, but in the Cheverlot Spark I would call the well between the back seats and the back hatch door. I seemed to be the only one concerned that considering we were just setting out and already had all foot wells full and the middle of the back seat full that if we bought even a bottle of water we would have to strap it to the roof - but so be it and we were off.
We headed down to the Cape of Good Hope as we had heard it was worth seeing. I can't say that I saw much more than the back of my eyelids on the way, but on the way back was able to see more scenery and can confirm that it is a beautiful part of the world.
After driving around this area we headed for Stellenbosch. I was a little nervous as we were headed back to the site of my spider bites, but thankfully my antibiotics are working a treat and my bites are almost healed, so fingers crossed we are in a different room that is not infested.
