Okay I'm getting behind here I better catch you up. We left Uluru and headed north towards Alice Springs. The road as quiet as ever we didn't stop but twice in between the two. Once we stopped at an old Race Course called Barrow Creek. It's been closed since the late nineties and show it. I walked out to the finish line and took some pictures of the dilapidated grandstand and race course its self. The scenery was as good as any track we've ever been too. Back in the motorhome we again were rolling north. *
** Earlier in the day we passed a really nice truck pulling double trailers with a cool theme on its trailer reminiscent of The Smokey and the Bandit movie. Once again we passed him this time trying to get a picture but we were too close. We pulled up in a rest area as did he and the driver and I got talking trucks and swapping stories. I got some good pictures of the truck and gave him some of my USA truck magazines. Inm the end he offered me a ride but knowing what it takes to start and stop a truck that size I said no, I am still having remorse over that to this day. ****
Once settled into our camp for the night we set off for a sunset camel tour. I really like camels because A. They lay down so I can climb onboard and B. They move pretty slowly. Joy being and expert rider and me not at all a camel is a good choice. I asked the grumpy owner if I could have my own camel and he declined saying one camel to a couple. So "Pixie" was our host camel and off into the sunset we rode. *
** Next morning we were up early as this was a long day. We did the Desert Park in the morning that included a great wild bird show with them whistling past your heads in the crowd. How do you train an owl or any other bird must take some time. This park was very well done and kept even me interested even knowing that my museum was next. ***
. Australia truckers museum was our next stop. With hundreds of trucks and equipment to look at even Joy enjoyed it as she disappeared several times. There were very famous trucks in there and some odd ball ones that I would never had wanted to drive. Next door there was the Ghan Train museum which wrapped up our museum day in Alice Springs. *
*. The last night in Alice had us looking for some drinks and entertainment which we found up the road at a local Pub. We'd recruited some Germans from the pool at the campground and had a great night of shooting the bull answering questions that we are asked nearly daily "What do you think of your new President "? I have learned to answer positively about our country when we are out of it so we just kind of smile and say we support our country and always hope for the best. ***
. Early morning leave time has us again heading northbound for the "Devils Marbles" Pub and campground and a soon turn back towards the east.
