Friday
Kuya and Ate picked us up in the morning and we drove to The Getty Museum, which was a beautiful building in the Hollywood Hills. We parked at the bottom of the hill and got a tram to the top. It's a free museum as in Gettys will he asked that the museum be a non profit organisation but the car park cost $15 lol! Each Pavillion was dedicated to a practice, painting, photography etc. We saw some Renoir, Monet, Gaugin, Van Gogh and celebrity photographs. There was a beautiful Japanese garden with vast views of LA.
We couldn't stay all day as we needed to be in Downtown for a LA Dodgers Vs Miami Marlins baseball game. We grabbed some dinner together first at Masa's a shabby chic mixture of odd bits of furniture and ornaments. We had 12inch pizzas. Each pizza was named after a road in Echo Park. Ate Fay and I got Scott which was pepperoni, mushroom and red onion and Neil got the McDuff pepperoni, red onion, shallots and fried leeks. Ate Fay made a valid point "this pizza is really good, but I don't know if it's just because I'm really hungry" I think it was a bit of both pizza on thin crust freshly made is normally always really good!
We said bye and Neil dropped a couple of his records off at Origami Vinyl and the we walked up Sunset stopping off at the thrift shops, I got a south californian t-shirt for $3:50 and an amazing red chain 100% silk top for $9:95 (in love with it)!
We stopped off at a bar called The Short Stop for a couple drinks before the game. Everyone was wearing LA Dodgers t-shirts, jerseys and hats and watching us while they did shots with the barman.
We walked up to the stadium which is on a hill. Walking out to our seats and the place looked huge. I don't really know any baseball rules and didn't know there were 9 innings that made the game 3hours long. But I got into it and was a great place to people watch as families grazed for 3 hours on hot dogs, garlic fries, ice cream, nachos and the most disgusting was sunflower seeds covered in seasoning e.g nacho cheese flavour. It wasn't the sunflower seeds it was how they ate them, chewing them and spitting out the shells on the floor. When I walked to the restroom (toilet) there were trails of chewed seeds all over the floor eurgh! Americans know how to advertise as every few minutes an advert would pop up on the screens and to keep you entertained there was the kiss cam, the dance cam and the air guitar cam. We waited till the end of the game do we could see the fireworks which were well worth it as they were the best I'd seen in real life!
