Hello everyone

Well the adventures have begun already. We got to Gatwick airport to find out that travelbag had messed up our tickets and we didn´t actually have a ticket for that day. Luckily the airline agreed to reissue us with the right tickets. Apparantely my passpost isn´t "machine readable" (obviously?!) so I will have to get a new one to get back home thought the states (the joys of getting a passport issued in Delhi I suppose). Anyway, we finally managed to get to New York airport to get our connecting flight to Quito, Ecuador and Kik´s pàssport went missing. Sp we ended up in New York for the night (not too much of a hardship I guess). Luckily we got our flight to Quito bumped forward to the next day and our hotel agreed to delay our rooms by a night. So Kik got a temporary passport in New York and here we are in Quito, finally! Surely nothing else can go wrong...oh apart from the fact they´ve spelled keirans name wrong on his new passport so we´re off to the British consultae tomorrow morning to get him a new one (and probably me aswell, see above!)

So we´ve had a couple of days lording it up in our five star hotel in Quito. Quito is okay, your typical dirty busy city. We staying in the old town now ( very hilly, thank god as the altitude doesn´t make you want to throw up after you walk about 5 yards, honest !!! ). We have done the touristy trip to the Equator and once we get the passports sorted we´re heading down south to a smaller place called Banos to learn some spanish which can´t come soon enough as no one speaks english or seems to understand me when I speak Spanish!

Have fun - hope you manage to pack your back packs ok - i usually packed mine on the way to the air port and then find i can't squeeze everything in. We are missing you here in St Albans. Don't forget if you ever get bored out there - think that you could be back here doing some CAs and you will feel much better !!
