Very quick boat over to railay from krabi, you can't get a taxi or drive there as there are no roads, boat is the only way in! This also means there are no taxis to take us to the hotel so have to walk across the whole of railay as our hotel was on the other side, this only took 15 minutes but with all our bags it was pretty tough! So we check in dump our stuff and go off exploring! It's such a strange place, only got electricity 5 years ago or something and all the restaurants and bars look like little hippy places, some of which make no secret of the fact they sell some illegal substances. So we walk to the beach which is beautiful with limestone cliffs all around with people climbing up and abseiling down! Also the beach is completely covered in monkeys! Going through the bins and trying to steal peoples food! They were not the least bit scared and would jump on the heads of anyone with a plastic bag or something that looked edible, we watched a poor unsuspecting tourist even get his sun tan lotion stolen out of his bag by the tiniest baby monkey without him even realising! We go for a quick swim round the limestone cave and then we go to see if we can find the lagoon which is apparently supposed to be very beautiful, we follow the signs until they stop and there is just one sign pointing left even though there is no left turn, just a huge mountain, after being very confused and annoyed that the signs are wrong we notice one lonely barley attached rope hanging on the side of the mountain and it is clear that the only way to the lagoon is to climb up! There was also a sign saying not to go up when it had been raining, and as it had been pouring it down for the last few hours, plus the route didn't look great to start, we decided to give it a miss! We had an authentic Asian meal at 'the last bar' and watched a very talented thai singer and guitarist who were singing all our faves from home so we stuck around for a while, after the singers had finished we watched the thai boxing which was in a ring right in the middle of the restaurant! After this we watched the fire show and I tried to learn some basic fire dance moves ( the balls were of course not on fire) and after a frustrating hour, covered in soot with blistered fingers, I gave up, don't think I will be starting my fire dance career any time soon! After a chilled but really good night out we finally make it to bed ready for our trip tommorow!
