So we arrived in San Francisco and were taken to our hostel and we were staying in a 24 bed mixed dorm...yes i did say 24 bed dorm! It seemed like an ok idea at the time of booking it but it was awful loads of people snoring and really noisy so we upgraded for the next night they didnt have any more availability for our remaining 2 nights so we found a place nearer the main town which we also thought was a good idea at the time(ill come back to that in a min). The next day we went round the bay area and the piers which was nice and then went to alcatraz in the afternoon on the night tour was really cool sitting in the cells and going in the isolation cell in pitch black was scarey but was really good trip is alot closer to the shore than what i thought but the whole island looked like a ghost town was deserted and some of the buildings were burnt out which made it all even spookier!!!! The next day we went to find Lombard street aka the crooked street, you should have seen the vertical hill we had to walk up though to get to it....one litle gust of wind and i would have been a gonner!!!! We also saw nob hill(yes it is called that) and then we got our bags and went to find our new hostel. Well the new hostel was in a dingy alley full of barred up windows and broken glass and oh yes right next to a brothel and used to be a massgae parlour, inside was biker boy on reception and showed us to our brothel room was awful and our door didnt lock so they banged on that for a while then we locked ourselves in and hid away for most of the night and then went to chinatown and had an indian!!!!! yes really we did!! We arrived back at the hell hole to hear the bloke behind the counter talking to the handyman about that the FBI security cameras are always pointed at this alleyway due to all the drug users was awful felt like i couldnt take a shower incase there was some perve peeping hole!!!! My overall impression of san fran that it would be nice to come in the summer but was to hilly but i did enjoy alcatraz and we also walked over and back on the golden gate bridge was 4 miles altogether....you should have heard the moaning and whinging i was doing as you all know how much i love to walk but the views were nice. We then headed off on our 22 hour train journey to get us to San Diego!!!
