The drive to Siem Reap. Let me start by saying we had an awesome driver. Some roads were paved, about a third of them were not. Yesterday we toured the King's palace, which was splendid and covered in gold and jewels. I mean Buddhas with 20 carat diamonds and silver tiled floors. This morning we visited the Killing Fields and genocide museum. Very very sad, and graphic. It was tough to rebound from that, but we recovered after lunch and headed to Siem Reap.

We took a fast boat from Chau Doc, Vietnam to Phnom Penh Cambodia. That whole day was disorienting. We got picked up at 6:30am by two men on cyclos (a bicycle with a buggie attached, kinda like a small tuk tuk), luggage and all into morning traffic. They drop us off at the port. We tried to be smart and spent our Vietnamese Dong the night before. We had to pay them in Hong Kong dollars since that was all we could find. They were not impressed. We get on the boat...

The Ankgor Temples were amazing. Temples that were anywhere from 500-900 years old, and still standing. Even though Angkor Wat is the biggest and the oldest, Angkor Thom was our favorite. Ankgor Wat is the best preserved, had the best Apsaras (Cambodian Dancers) and stories on the walls, we just loved all the smiling faces on Angkor Thom. You'll see from the pictures.
