Day 16-19:

Day 16 - 7/04/17
After a short bus ride we arrived in San Ignacio and immediately checked into Tropicool Hotel. After settling in we made our way to the market where we walked around and checked out everything it had to offer. We then returned to our hotel for a bit before we set out to do a chocolate tour where we got to try 100% chocolate and make our own chocolate drinks. We then returned to our hotel where we relaxed for a bit before setting out again to have a late lunch. After a quick walk around the town we retuned to our room where we settled in for the night.

Day 17 - 8/04/17
We woke up early and made our way to the pick up point for our tour to Actun Tunichill Muknal. After an hour long shuttle ride we arrived at the park. We received all our safety equipment and set out for the cave. Almost immediately you have to swim across a river before hiking through the jungle for a bit which includes crossing two more shallower rivers along the way. We eventually arrived at the cave entrance and began swimming through the cave. After swimming, climbing up rocks and squeezing through narrow passages for a while we eventually made it to the top and saw ancient Mayan artefacts and ancient Mayan skeletons that had been sacrificed in the cave. After learning about these for a while it was then time to make our way back down and through the cave. We hiked back through the jungle to the park entrance where we had lunch. We then got driven back to our hotel where we relaxed for a while. We then set out to have some dinner and drinks before returning to our room and crashing for the night.

Day 18 - 9/04/17
After waking up and having some breakfast we caught a bus to Xunantunich. After entering the site we made our way around the park and checked out the ancient ruins. We were able to climb the ruins, including El Castillo which stands at 130 feet tall. After wandering around the park and seeing all the structures we made our way back out of the park and back to San Ignacio where we immediately got some lunch. We returned to our room where we relaxed for a while before heading out for some dinner and drinks. After dinner and a quick walk around the town we returned to our room to settle in for the night.

Day 19 - 10/04/17
After an early wake up it was time to say goodbye to San Ignacio and to Belize and catch a taxi to the border en route to our next destination.
